The Best Places To Visit In Wales This Spring

Spring is just around the corner, the daffodils are out and soon the fields will be full of spring lambs – it is the perfect season to visit Wales. Whilst we can’t guarantee there won’t be some rain, or that it might not be muddy underfoot, we can guarantee you certainly won’t be short of things to do. Wales is steeped in history, and surrounded by nature – there really is something for everyone.

Fantastic Castles

No visit to Wales is complete without visiting a castle and there are plenty to choose from. Whether you want to visit a restored castle, or castle ruins, then you don’t have to go far to find something.

Conwy Castle, a world heritage site, is a perfect example of a castle that has been lovingly restored, a fantastic day out for the whole family. If you are visiting the area over Easter then don’t miss The Easter Trail of Edward 1st Golden Eggs, a treasure hunt taking place on 17th April.

Another fantastic castle to visit in the area is Bodelwyddan Castle and Park. This is a much more modern castle, surrounded by some stunning parkland. There are plenty of events on during Spring, from evening bat walks to Easter bunny trails.

Stunning Walks

Whilst Spring can be a little damp under foot, it really is the perfect time to get out into the countryside and enjoy all those signs that Spring has arrived. Wales has no shortage of fantastic places to walk, whether you want to short gentle stroll or something more strenuous. If you want to combine being in the great outdoors with history then why not walk part of  Offas Dyke – with 177 miles of footpaths, there is plenty to share with all the other walkers.

Incredible Snowdon

The highest mountain in Wales and England, this is one famous landmark that is completely worthy of a visit. There are six different paths that lead to the top of Snowdon or for those who are less mobile, or have small children then there is the Snowdon Mountain Railway, a narrow-gauge rack and pinion railway. However you get to the summit the views are worth every minute of your journey to get there. And, of course, everyone loves a mountain railway, it’s a fantastic way to sit back and see the scenery unfold.

Electric Mountain

Of course it can rain in Wales, so it is always a good idea to have a special rainy day planned, and Electric Mountain offers a very informative, fact packed day out for all the family. Whilst it might not be somewhere you would have thought of visiting the 225,000 annual visitors can’t be wrong. Take the hour-long tour of the Dinorwig Power Station and learn everything there is to know about the energy.
