CBD May Eventually Be a Cure for Common STI

Researchers at the University of Queensland have learned how the antidote to antibiotic-resistant bacteria can be produced by cannabis. Multiple extremely resistant bacteria, including those that play roles in gonorrhea, MRSA, and meningitis, can be attacked and destroyed by the non-psychoactive cannabinoid known as Cannabidiol.

Cannabidiol kills bacteria – Research shows

There is an immediate need to produce new drugs to combat diseases such as gonorrhea, which routinely infects nearly 100 million people around the world, with the task becoming highly difficult because of the prevalence of infections lacking symptoms along with the capacity of gonorrhea to respond to the immune response of its host and create antibiotic tolerance.

This study also revealed that CBD is widely effective against more Gram-positive bacteria than was previously thought, which includes antibiotic-resistant pathogens like MRSA.

The inflammation that is caused by many common conditions is what leads to a condition known as Lupus. Lupus causes the body to attack itself rather than fighting against the disease, which is why people with Lupus often experience a wide range of symptoms. One of the symptoms is inflammation, and this is what CBD is able to stop. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, and it has been shown to work well in controlling the immune system so that inflammation is kept under control. This could be a cure for stiortis.

Cannabidiol is particularly effective at breaking down biofilms, which are slimy accumulations of bacteria like dental plaque on the teeth. These bacteria help MRSA survive antibiotic treatment.

In the study, scientists added CBD to samples of pig skin that had been contaminated by multiple forms of bacteria, along with other subtly altered CBD analogs. Although topical CBD applications showed great success, when injected into mice contaminated with different bacteria, the compound was considered largely fruitless.

The scientists also went a little deeper to explore how easily the bacteria could mutate and try to outwit CBD and its ability to destroy it. It was observed that CBD cream induces a low propensity to exhibit tolerance in bacteria in a mock two-week patient care experiment.

The availability of CBD and hemp oils is already quite common in beauty shops. They have many benefits beyond their skin-skin benefits.

Soon, CBD could also be used to treat sexually transmitted diseases. Recent research shows that CBD is an antibiotic and could be used to kill bacteria responsible for meningitis, legionnaire’s disease and gonorrhea.

Luckily, the CBD analogs with minor tweaks have also proven equally effective in the destruction of bacteria, giving rise to expectations that a slightly tweaked form of the compound with strong systemic availability may be developed.

Final thoughts

CBD is a non-psychoactive compound that can be extracted from hemp and cannabis. It does not give you the same high as regular marijuana. CBD has not been approved by the FDA to treat severe and rare forms of seizures. However, it is being promoted for other health benefits.

It was effective against gram positive bacteria, but not gram negative. Gram-positive bacteria can cause severe skin infections and pneumonia. Gram-negative bacteria includes salmonella (found undercooked food) and E.

According to World Health Organization reports, these results come at an opportune time, with the number of people affected by gonorrhea continuing to rise by more than fifteen percent each year as a result of the bacteria’s strong resistance.
