3 Activities to Try While Visiting California

If you’re planning a trip to California soon, you’ll likely want to include some fun and interactive activities during your vacation. California is home to warm weather, wine tasting tours, and plenty of beaches and parks that allow you to soak up the sun.

There are also a few activities the state is known for, like taking a tour to view the homes of celebrities or Visiting Disneyland. If you’ve been to California before, you may want to try some new excursions to help you make the most of your trip. Whether you want to indulge in relaxing activities that include dining and being pampered, or you want to get out in nature, here are three activities you can try during your California vacation.

Ride In a Cable Car

If you’re visiting San Francisco, you won’t want to leave the city before you take a ride in a cable car. The city is known for its cable car system, which used to be a popular mode of transportation for residents. The San Francisco Cable Car System is the oldest manual car system in the US, and it’s also the only manual cable car system that is still in use.

When you ride in the cable car, you’ll see attractive landmarks in the city and visit areas in the city such as Fisherman’s Wharf and Union Square. You can also arrange to stop by a shopping center, museum, or restaurant along your route so you can take in all the culture San Francisco has to offer.

White Water Rafting

If you love being out on the water and have a taste for adventure, American river rafting is an enjoyable activity that will make your California trip even more memorable. Tuolomne River in California, which showcases the beautiful scenery of Yosemite National Park, is one of the best places to go white water rafting, and you can book a two- or three-day package so you can spend time on the water each day of your vacation.

Tuolomne River is in a rural part of California so you may want to book a hotel in Groveland or Sonora so you’ll be close to the river and within a short distance of other shopping or dining attractions.

Take a Wine Tour

As you likely already know, California is known for its delicious varieties of wine. You can learn more about how wine is made and which grapes are used for your favorite wines by taking a tour. Wine tours are also a great way to go sightseeing while you’re in California and learn more about the history of the state. If you prefer a small tour for your family members or friend group, check out Painted Ladies Tour Company.

This family-owned business is known for picking customers up in a vintage VW bus and driving them to Sonoma Valley to tour the vineyards. The tour guides are knowledgeable and friendly, and the tour includes a meal at an Italian winery. You’ll even get a chance to take a picture on the Golden Gate bridge. Or, you can attend the Toast Tours, which are excursions for up to 12 people. You’ll visit distilleries, cideries, and a microbrewery and taste all the original and creative beverages created there. While you enjoy your wine you can also take in the beauty of popular California attractions such as Pismo Beach and Hearst Castle.

These are just a few of the enjoyable activities you can take advantage of when you’re in California. If you’re traveling with family or friends, be sure to choose activities that are near other attractions to ensure that everyone gets to do something they enjoy during your vacation.
