5 Reasons to Have a Celebration at Any Time of the Year

Oftentimes, people opt to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. While it’s nice to celebrate those times, it’s also nice to celebrate at any time of the year. Consider the following reasons why.

Life is Short

While it’s never fun to think morbid thoughts, life won’t last forever. At some point, you and everyone you love will die. Even though the days might seem long, the years will fly by. You might as well make the days count with celebrations. Find little reasons to celebrate with the people you love. It can be anything from a promotion at work to your favorite show getting renewed for another season. If you look around you, there is almost always some small, positive thing going on to embrace and celebrate.

It Encourages Intentionality

One of the main reasons why so many people remember their birthdays is because of the intentionality that goes into making each one great. Throwing a birthday party with balloons, decorations, birthday yard signs, fun food, and birthday cake makes the party a constant reminder that it’s a special day. This can go for any type of celebration. They encourage intentionality because each day is special and the people you love are alive to appreciate it.

It Decreases Loneliness

Oftentimes, people suffer in silence. They deal with loneliness and depression because they’re isolated. People are meant to enjoy life in the safety of a community. By facilitating gatherings and parties, you give people a chance to come together, laugh, and protect their mental health. If you aren’t in a place to throw a party because of your mental health struggles, seek out other parties or events your friends might be throwing. Though it is hard sometimes to get yourself there, that is often half the battle and being surrounded by loved ones can brighten your day.

Spontaneity Takes the Pressure Off

Because many people wait until a birthday in order to throw a celebration, it puts a lot of pressure on making that day perfect. When you and your loved ones are used to enjoying celebratory events on a regular basis, there’s less pressure to make every single moment of one day (that only comes once a year) perfect. Even the imperfect celebrations are fun and memorable.

Celebrations Add Spice

One of the reasons why people look forward to the weekends is because of the celebrations. However, if you structure your weeks correctly, you can host a fun dinner party or a game night on a weeknight. Celebrations don’t have to always involve photo booth displays and catered food. Tacos, great drinks, and a few card games can be the perfect backdrop for a fun night. When it’s time for work the next morning, you’ll feel refreshed because you were able to connect with people in a festive way.

Life is meant to be appreciated, enjoyed and savored. You can only do that when you’re intentional. As you develop consistent rituals around being happy, grateful and celebratory, this will positively enrich your experience as you continue your life’s journey.
