When we decided that our lives need to change and that we have to eat healthier and work out we thought we will do it every day. Since we are freelancers without defined working hours we thought that there will not be anything simpler than engaging in a short workout before or after work. As an idea, it sounds splendid. The reality is a bit different, though, because we get so caught up with all the other things we need to do. Thus, it appears as there is no time for a daily workout.
When you consider that we need only 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week, saying that we don’t have time sounds really like a bad excuse, doesn’t it? But here is the thing. When experts talk about the amount of time we need, they refer only to the time we are supposed to spend working out. However, no one counts the time we need to get to the place of exercise, whether it is gym or park, etc. Nobody also talks about the time for things that we have to do before and after the exercise. When you count all of these things in, however, you are left with the impression that you need two-three hours per day just to work out. And this is the time that most of us don’t have.
We were, however, quite determined to change our lives. Mainly because we saw that we keep on putting weight and that this kind of life which became even more sedentary because of the pandemic, doesn’t do us any good. It was clear to us, though, that we can’t find a good solution on our own, so we figured that it would be wise to consult our friend who works as a fitness trainer. She told us that one of the best things we can do is break the idea of doing everything in two days and create a daily workout plan.
Organize Your Daily Workout
Plan the Week
We imagine that you don’t have a desire to spend a single moment during the weekend thinking about schedules and plans. You have been doing that throughout the working week, and it makes perfect sense that you are fed up and want to use your Saturdays and Sundays for rest and fun. Nonetheless, if you designate just two hours every Sunday to plan the week, you will see that it will be much easier to do the workout. How? Well, include a short training somewhere between all the meetings and everything you need to do during the day. More importantly, treat it the same as any other meeting you have, and you will see how the daily workout routine will start to develop.
Don’t Skip Workouts
You planned to exercise for 30 minutes each day! But then, you get an unexpected call, you need to do some corrections in your work that take more time, etc. Many people in these situations give up on the workout altogether. By doing that, however, we are risking losing daily workout motivation. Tell yourself that it is better to do something than nothing at all. Put on your best workout shoes for men and engage yourself in fifteen or twenty-minute HIIT or some other exercise. Then, when you have more time (for example on weekends) you can do longer training.
Create To-Do List
We know that you are incredibly busy and feel that everything would be perfect if the day is just a bit longer. You know, regardless of how hectic everything is, a lot of time still gets wasted because we are not skilled to manage it. There are tools we can use to get better organized, such are phone apps like Toodle Do, Reminder, etc. They can be super helpful when you want to incorporate daily home workout in your life
Listen to Music
Music can help you get motivated and thus improve the workout. Thus, if you like listening to music, create a playlist of your favorite tunes and put it on each time you are exercising. That way, you will also combine pleasure with the training. I will make it less of a dull, repetitive thing and more of an enjoyable moment for a daily cardio workout.
Find a Gym Near the Office
Some people like to work out at home and they buy all kinds of equipment for a home gym. Others feel that they need to go to a physical place to get the motivation to exercise. Since going to the gym can take more time than an actual training session, they stress over having not enough time. But, have you considered looking for a gym near the place where you work? It will allow you to use part of the lunch break to go to a gym. Apart from that, you could also go after work. Another benefit of it would be that you avoid being jammed in the traffic!
Exercise in the Morning
If the idea of working out after work doesn’t appeal to you, you may want to consider a morning workout. Now, you may think, “Oh no, no way! I need my sleep! “Okay, let’s make it clear that we don’t mean that you should cut on your sleeping hours to exercise in the morning. But what you can do is set your alarm, for example, 45 minutes earlier and designate 20 minutes for a daily bodyweight workout. It means, though, you should stop watching Netflix and go to bed a bit earlier. Maybe, it is a kind of sacrifice, but keep in mind that there is a good reason for it.
Do Various Exercises
One problem that we often encounter is that people get bored of exercising. If you are doing the same set of exercises each day, it is expected that you will lose motivation after several weeks. To tackle this problem and stick to your daily workout routine, do as many different exercises as possible. By doing this, your mind will be entertained, and your body satisfied because you will work all of the muscles.
Find a Fitness Buddy
As social beings, we enjoy doing stuff more with others. So, see if your partner or some of your friends have similar workout goals and propose them work out together. Yeah, we know that it is always more attractive to meet for drinks or dinner. But, maybe you will be surprised by how much fun you will have to engage in yoga daily workout or going cycling or hiking together.
Conclusion
Each time we start thinking about skipping training sessions because of lack of time, we remember the tips that we got from our friends. And as surprising as it may sound, they help us get motivated again. It is far from saying that it is simple to stick to a daily workout plan. Of course, like most of you out there, sometimes we feel more like having a drink and watching a favorite series than sweating. But when you start changing the perspective, you see that it is possible to do everything you imagine! What about you? Do you have a workout plan? How do you manage your time during the day?
