Will design and UX research be affected by machine learning and artificial intelligence and how it can be done? This question was asked from Jakob Nielsen at the UX conference that was going virtually. Jakob replied that more artificial intelligence will be employed by the user interface as compared to what happened before. Face recognition is among those things for which artificial intelligence was used primitively.
A great technology is involved in face recognition. There is no need to get confused with the things by touching the terminals whenever any virus is present in it. The procedure is simple which includes recognizing the face only.
Among several key concepts one is a mental model which is related with usability problems. Also, for interpreting features the AI at an advanced level can be used. The purpose of doing this is to make the computers understand the intention of the user rather than to focus on the word coming from his mouth.
The reality is that whatever you will tell the computers they will do exactly the same thing and in the same manner. Wrong things will be done by the computers if they are told to do so. Whatever you want will be interpreted in a better way by the use of AI. It is necessary that interpretation of commands is understood in a better way by the computers rather than literal interpretation.
It will help you in a way where there is no need to include a person but to use computers only so that good output can be achieved in some complex areas or complex fields.
Computers can do the work for you and it’s you who has to decide what work done by computer will benefit you. The current computers can work absolutely according to your requirement.
Sometimes the computer presents you some options to select one from, and if none option fits perfectly for your task then you have to do all the tasks manually which will cost you a lot in terms of time and money. Artificial intelligence can help you in taking decisions related to human factors. It can take better and deeper decisions.
If you think that no user interface is required while using AI then you are wrong. In fact, a problem can be solved in a better way by using AI if the problem as well as the person are understood deeply. Using this technology also requires UX to be very good and for that some changes can be made in it.
A detailed and interesting work can be done which can be observed in the study when some tracking method like emotion recognition can be done along with the process of doing face recognition.
It is considered misleading and messy to use biometrics in AI. A user interview can not be taken if just the key things are recognized and highlighted. A usability study session or a user interview can be taken by doing automatic transcription and some things that are more simplistic.
Just like medicine undergo several experiments, similarly when computers interview a person, truthful answers are delivered by him. For instance, when a doctor asks you about the quantity of consumption of alcohol then you will not give the correct answer but when this question is asked by a computer then you will give the right answer.
Automating the interview is possible only at some places but at some other places it is not possible to do it. Wherever it is possible, we should apply it on a mass scale.
The work done by a designer can also be done by the computer. Suppose there are 5 layouts given by a computer and these work on the basis of a certain idea. The idea may be liked by you also.
If you use your human creativity just in between the process of applying AI then it can also work for you because you are free to make adjustments in the process of AI but use of humans is not always successful. As an example, with the use of AI for doing analysis we can take the help of analytics. If you think that every data point should be looked by the human then it is not possible. For doing it you have to take the help of a computer.
For getting web services and web development solutions you should take the help of a website design company.
