Coventry is introducing a new rugby programme with the aim of encouraging university students not to drop out of the sport. The sports foundation Engage! will receive funding from the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to encourage students and staff to play the sport more. Funding will last for three years and there are high hopes that it will increase participation.  Football Union to encourage students and staff to play the sport more. The programmes aim

Rugby has become the second most popular sport in England, with the RFU working hard to build its participation rates even further.

The aim of the programme is to create a men’s and women’s development team at each university. This will enable those who are already part of the BUCS rugby teams to take part when it suits them and will hopefully lead to universities competing against each other. Those who are already part of the BUCS rugby teams to take part when it suits them and will hopefully lead to universities competing against each other.

How will the sport be impacted?

Rugby is becoming the sport of choice, with more people playing every year. Coventry’s City of Rugby project will benefit from the programme, with the city set to be a world leader in sport by 2023.

The programme will help anyone with an interest in rugby to take part and enable them to balance their participation with student life. Students can also benefit from watching rugby drill videos from providers such as https://www.sportplan.net/drills/Rugby/.

Since the City of Rugby project started last year, 60,000 people have either taken part in the sport or become involved in some way. The excellent work the city has been doing to promote rugby is why it was offered funding by the RFU for the programme, with participation set to increase even more. The excellent work the city has been doing to promote rugby is why it was offered funding by the RFU for the programme, with participation set to increase even more.

The idea is to help students to find a local rugby club so that they can continue playing after their studies. Lisa Dodd-Maye, a sports director at Warwick University, commented on how happy she is to be part of the programme. Student life can be daunting, with rugby providing a healthy dose of exercise and a way to reduce stress. Warwick also has a duty to provide sport and activities to benefit students. Student life can be daunting, with rugby providing a healthy dose of exercise and a way to reduce stress. With the sport growing in popularity, universities across the country will soon join the programme. This means that participants will be able to enjoy the sport right through from school to leaving university and beyond. That participants will be able to enjoy the sport right through from school to leaving university and beyond.
