When you hand your bathroom over to your family, it becomes a hectic place. There will be time restraints, and disruptions galore. And, you can guarantee there will be times when you wish for your single days. You know; those days when you could soak in the bathtub for hours. With a house full of people, it can seem impossible that your bathroom will ever be your sanctuary again. But, the good news is, you can return it to a place of calm. You just need to put in a little work. And, even better, these changes could benefit the whole family!
ADD AMBIENCE
Half of the battle for creating a relaxing bathroom is creating ambience. It’s no wonder you can’t relax if you have stark lighting and a family to cope with. Ambience isn’t always top priority in a family bathroom. But, it should be. Making your bathroom an oasis of calm could help everyone find their inner peace. And, you can’t do that without throwing ambience into the mix. First, think lighting. Bright lights may be practical, but they won’t help you relax. Instead, consider installing light bulbs that offer a warmer glow. Think, too, about incorporating some luxury bathroom candles. These will be fantastic for getting you back into a relaxing bath routine. Though, if you have small children around, you may want to give this option a miss. Candles also have the benefit of making the place smell amazing. Pick calming scents to help add a sense of relaxation. You can’t go wrong with lavender!
KEEP THE BATHROOM WARM
A cold bathroom is never relaxing. We’ve all done that horrible morning dash across those cold tiles. We’ve all run for carpet once we get out the shower. Say goodbye to cold by installing some heating systems in your bathroom. If you’re willing to spend the money, underfloor heating can be a worthwhile expense. That way, you’ll never get cold feet after washing again. Imagine stepping out of the bath onto toasty warm tiles! Of course, underfloor heating isn’t practical for everyone. It’s expensive and requires a fair bit of work during installation. An easier option would be an electric heated towel rail. It may not save your feet, but the cold toes will be worth it when you’re wrapping yourself in a heated towel!
LOCK THE DOOR!
Bathroom disturbances are never nice. Yet, those of us who use a family bathroom come to expect them quite often. How can you unwind in your bathroom when the door could barge open any minute? Even when in the bath, you’ll be at the ready to cover your intimate areas. Solve the problem by installing a reliable door lock. You can’t stop people attempting to interrupt, but you can stop them gaining access. If you have small children, you may be hesitant to install a lock in case they need you. Solve the problem by installing a lock you can turn from the outside if the situation arises.
