If you don’t want your home to be a full-blown disaster zone, then adopt the following daily cleaning tips here so you never have to spend your weekend hours tidying up.

BEDROOM

*morning routine

  • Make your bed as soon as you get up. The chances to go to your bed again are smaller if you do the bed early in the morning.
  • Wipe your nightstands each morning. Keep one wipe near your nightstand and wipe it up every morning.
  • Edit your wardrobe as you go. Keep a bag in your closet where you can throw clothes that are old, small or you just don’t want to wear anymore. Get rid of them at the end of the month.

*night routine

  • Rehang the clothes you wore during the day. Don’t throw your clothes on a chair if they can be worn once more before laundry day – hang them!
  • Start a wash cycle as soon as you get home. Have a large basket for every member of your home. Buy an extra basket to organize your linens. If the baskets are full, start a wash cycle immediately when you get home, so you have time to dry and fold.

BATHROOM

*morning routine

  • After each shower sprays your shower with cleaner. Wipe down the surface and let it rinse out.
  • Keep a laundry basket for towels. Hang towels on hooks. If you want to use your towels two-three times, you need to hang them properly so they can air-dry. You can’t keep your dirty towels on the floor. If they’ve gone past their two-three day use, throw them in the basket.

*night routine

  • Clear your countertops of clutter. Before you go to bed, clear out and put away the products you don’t need for the next day and wipe down the countertop.
  • Clean your toilet. Before you take a shower give your toilet a quick scrub. Wipe the seat.

LIVING ROOM

*morning routine

  • Keep baskets in every room. Once a day, walk-through of each space. Fill up your basket with accumulated clutter. Put the items in their place when you come back home.

*night routine

  • Wipe down the coffee table. During the commercial breaks wipe down your living room tables.
  • Fluff your pillow after each use.

KITCHEN

*morning routine

  • While you brew your morning coffee empty the dishwasher.
  • When you notice tiny spills, clean them right away. It is easier to notice tiny spills in broad daylight so wipe down the kitchen countertops and clean the carpets and floors in the morning.
  • Change your dish towel. Swap out the towels and toss the old ones into the laundry basket.

*night routine

  • Clean as you cook. Once your meal is ready, quickly rinse the utensils you used before sitting down to eat. This will ease the process of cleaning up your space after your meal.
  • Start the dishwasher at night.
  • Wipe cooking surfaces and countertops before you go to bed.
