Find out which firearms are legally permitted and which are for restricted use. With changes in the Disarmament Statute and in the new arms decree, many people have doubts about what types of weapons are allowed and restricted in the country. Do you know the models?

If you are also in doubt, don’t worry: in this article we are going to talk about weapons that are restricted and allowed to be used. Check out!

What firearms are allowed?

The decree determines the weapons of restricted and allowed in the country, but the Disarmament Statute has received some changes earlier this year by a new decree, which eases some issues related to the ownership, possession and purchase weapons.

This document was revised and prohibited the carrying of weapons classified as portable and non-portable, such as rifles and shotguns, except for rural residents (with some prerequisites) who can purchase portable weapons. This classification of the types of weapons carried was established in the new decree.

Therefore, weapons that are allowed to be used for possession are those that are part of the “possession weapon” category, such as revolvers, claws and pistols. Check out which firearms are allowed:

  • Permissible weapons are short, semi-automatic, or repeating weapons with ammunition energy in the exhaust pipe of a maximum of 300 foot-pounds or 407 Joules. The caliber of revolvers, for example, must be up to 38. The pistol caliber can be up to 380.
  • Another weapon allowed for those in possession of weapons is the long-streaked, repetitive or semi-automatic weapon, with energy of up to a thousand foot-pounds or 1355 Joules. An example would be carbines and rifles.
  • Smooth-bore, semi-automatic or repeating firearm with a 12 gauge or less. In this case, the barrel length must be equal to or greater than 24 inches or 610 millimeters and for smaller caliber weapons there is no barrel length limitation.

What are restricted-use firearms?

Unlike firearms allowed, firearms and magazine loader for AR 15 for restricted use can only be used by certain specific categories, such as the Armed Forces.

Check out the restricted-use firearms:

  • Short firearms with ammunition output greater than 300 foot-pounds or 407 Joules.
  • Long-rayed weapons with ammunition output exceeding a thousand foot-pounds or 1355 Joules.
  • Smooth-bore weapons with a caliber greater than 12.
  • Automatic weapons of any caliber

Despite the limitations, the war industry has high expectations for the market, since some parts of the decree have not yet been voted on and can further facilitate the possession of weapons.

Type of weapon to be purchased

There are roughly four groups of weapons that can be used for defense: Revolvers, Pistols, and Rifles.

Each of these groups has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. Let’s go through each one quickly.

Revolver:Repetitive sized firearm, equipped with a rotating cylinder positioned behind the barrel, which serves as a magazine;

Pistol:Usually semi-automatic, whose single chamber is part of the barrel body and whose magazine, when in a fixed position, keeps the cartridges in a row.

Carbine:A portable firearm similar to a rifle, of reduced dimensions, with a long barrel – although relatively smaller than that of the rifle – with a streaked soul.

Long weapons

For those who like longer weapons, like shotguns, the positions are different. Because they are heavier, in some cases there may be support and the shooter just needs to learn to aim and move the support. That is why this article will only mention the different postures for shooting with long weapons standing and without support.
