Tea is full of antioxidants that naturally fight viruses and bacteria. Honey soothes the stomach and prevents nausea. Together, they create a powerful liquid that fights against the majority of household illnesses. It might be a placebo, but even if it is the tea tastes good, and the honey will stop your throat from feeling like you are swallowing razor blades.

Zinc Lozenges

Lozenges are scientifically proven to have positive effects on the common cold. They might not cure it, but they do shorten its life cycle. A couple of lozenges a day could significantly reduce the number of days a year that you have to spend under the covers! Make sure to suck them slowly for the best effects and to eat them on a full stomach. Zinc has been known to make people feel physically sick.

Drugs

People have a gripe with pharmaceuticals. To some, drugs is a manmade substance that was created to dumb down the human population while bankrupting the needy. To others, they simply help white blood cells fight the body’s infection and invasion of foreign bacteria. Paracetamol and aspirin are just two examples of common drugs that guide millions of people through illness. You don’t even have to worry the price with a prescription discount card. They considerably reduce the cost.

A Hot Bath

Not all illnesses can be treated medically. If this is the case, all you need is a place to relax and let the effects wear off. The bath is the perfect place. It is private and incredibly soothing, especially with a few bath salts and some nice lighting. The heat also opens your pores which helps exfoliate the skin and detoxes the body.

Smoothies

Don’t be fooled into thinking that you can’t be proactive when you are sick. It is hard because your body craves comfort food, but you have to try and eat and drink healthily. At your time of need, your body needs essential nutrients and vitamins. Blend a few pieces of fruit, add milk and slurp away.

Fresh Air

The house and the room you have been holed up in can get remarkably stuffy, and, as a result, the air gets stale. Fresh air is good for the body. It is full of oxygen that the blood transports to the muscles for cleaning purposes. Much more than the stale air in your room. Get out of bed and into the fresh air. You will feel ten times better.

Sickness doesn’t have to be the worst week of your life. With these six simple steps, you can fight it and recover in no time.
