Six Ways To Increase Your Happiness Through Religion and God

With the arrival of the new year, we’ve all created a list of goals and improvements that we’d like to work on achieving this year. If one of your goals is to become a happier person, you’ve come to the right place.

  1. Forgive More

It’s human nature to hold onto anger and to keep grudges against people who have hurt you or someone that you love. Injustice and needless cruelty are enough to make any decent person fuming with righteous indignation. Although you have every right to feel this way, don’t hold onto these feelings for too long. Anger can become a poison that will only affect you and your health. Learn how to forgive others for the hurt they cause. Not for their benefit but for your own.

  1. Pray More

There is something to be said about the power of prayer. Whether it be the deep connection you build with the Lord Father or the combining of positive energy with powerful intentions, prayer can work miracles if you believe it can. Prayer shouldn’t be saved for dark moments of crisis or anguish. Prayer is an open conduit with the loving Father that should be kept open on a daily basis. Pray when you’re happy. Pray when you’re bored. Pray when you’re curious. Pray when you’re sad. Pray to thank the Lord for all of your blessings, and pray to thank him for all of your struggles. Just pray.

  1. Read More

George R. R. Martin once said, “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.” This is true on a deeply spiritual level. Reading can help to ease stress, anxiety, and foster your creativity. Fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, sci-fi, and mystery books are delightful and can help to get your mind off of your troubles for a little while. This can help you to restore your focus and improve your mindset. If these types of books aren’t your style, you can try reading a theological book, such as Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament (TWOT), or a book that recounts the testimonies of people who’ve experienced real miracles.

  1. Play More

Hard work is the backbone of all successful people and families. We are a country built on the backs of people who weren’t afraid of working hard. Being a dedicated, hard worker is an admirable trait that will gift you with purpose and a sense of accomplishment. In order to find your happiness after a hard day of work, remember to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Use your hard-earned money to enjoy your free time. This leisure time will allow you to relieve stress, improve your mood, and bring you closer to the playful, innocent spirit of God that resides within you.

  1. Love More

It’s easy to love those whom we enjoy and cherish. Dare I say that many of us could make a fortune out of loving the people in our lives as we could turn it into a full-time job. While loving your close friends and relatives will bring happiness, the true spirit of happiness and contentment can be found when we dare to love others. Love the homeless stranger on the street who’s down on their luck. Love the person who was rude to you in the store today. Love your neighbor who may play their music too loud. Love one person just a little bit more every day, and you’ll notice an increase in your personal happiness.

  1. Sing More

Singing is an ancient tool of spiritual empowerment that can bring us closer to the Lord for when we lift our voices in praise and in song, He listens. Singing is a form of self-expression that can improve your mood, reduce stress, and relax your muscles.

One last thing you can do to make yourself happier is to pay it forward. If someone is kind to you, do a kind thing for someone the next day. Once you’ve begun to increase your personal happiness, help others to increase theirs by passing along the small lessons you’ve learned here today.
