The Cleanliness Guide Every Tattoo Artist Must Follow

Tattooing is not naturally a sterile procedure like surgery. The tattooists do not work inside a ‘clean room’ with iodine decontaminators and HEPA filters. To enhance the safety quotient, or in other words, to keep infections at bay under all circumstances, they manually clean their workspace, tools, etc. Doing so paves the way for a huge traffic along with creating a foundation for the best tattoo healing.

Every tattooist learns or must learn how to maintain hygiene during the apprenticeship. It does not however hurt to go through them after every couple of months and ask yourself if you still run a tight ship in terms of sterilisation and cleanliness. For further details, please check out the rest of the discussion now.

  1. Studio

A studio is highly adaptable or can be cleaned daily without any hassle. The artist must cover the floor and walls with ceramic tiles or with other non-porous materials available in the market at present. The micro spray emitted by the tattoo machines, which include pathogens, will the not be able to stick to the walls or floors. No risk of diseases thus. Isn’t that great?

  1. Work Table

Work tables are manufactured from stainless steel and wrapped with a cling that streamlines the cleaning process. Spray the work table with a disinfectant more often than the studio because it is here that the artists tend to work with different kinds of inks, machines, needles, tubes, stencils, etc., and it also comes in direct contact with the customer’s body.

  1. Tattoo Machines

Almost all the top tattooists agreed that maintaining tattoo machine supplies is the hardest. Several breathtaking coil machines with complex cast designs as well as cloth coils accumulate maximum dirt. But there are methods one may try. First, keep the machines inside a bad when not in use. Second, rinse the machine with hot water after every usage. Third, put the machine inside an autoclave. This will kill all the germs.

  1. Tubes and Needles

Every tube and needle that touches the human skin must be thoroughly sterilised beforehand. If you have purchased stainless tubes and needles, make sure to place them inside an autoclave at appropriate settings. See if the indicator has turned blue or else the contents are not fully free of germs. Needles and cartridges must be unpacked in front of the customer. This assures maximum sterility.

  1. Gloves and Sharps

Finally, yet importantly, please dump the sharp equipment in a separate biohazard container. Never throw the used needles uncovered or else the germs will spread. If the gloves are disposable, please do not try to wash them. This will compromise their overall integrity. Furthermore, slather a substantial amount of Vaseline on the hands so that gloves do not fall down while tattooing.

Implementing the tips stated above with utmost diligence will allow a tattooist to impress larger segments of the population. A consumer after all schedules an appointment only when he/she sees the concerned studio is spick and span and the concerned owner adheres to the internationally recognised hygiene standards.

The tattoo artists can drive customers and earn profits only when they pay utmost attention towards hygiene. They must clean the studio, work table, needles, tubes, machines, and gloves thoroughly before and after usage.
