Top 8 Yoga Accessories for a Successful Practice

Yoga does not need any particular types of equipment. It’s all regarding focusing on your breath and flexibility. You will be able to perform yoga at any time in any place. However, many yoga accessories would assist you in improving your experience. Some of the accessories such as yoga pants, yoga shoes, yoga shirts, yoga underwear, yoga towels, yoga mats, yoga straps, yoga blocks, and many other yoga accessories will help you enhance your yoga experience. In yoga accessories, yoga mala beads, healing stones, 108 mala beads, and bracelets are top in the list.

Yoga Mat

You will need a sticky yoga mat to practice on. Look for these mats in your local Target, Walmart, Rite Aid, etc… They are typically around 50% off, but if they are not, you can usually find similar yoga mats on Amazon for a reasonable price. A good quality mat will have an excellent textured surface that is easy to wipe clean and will hold your hands and feet in place while you practice. There are many different types of mats available, but a good quality will provide the user with a comfortable and firm surface to work with.

A yoga block or brick

You will also need your own Yoga block or brick, especially if your legs are tight with limited flexibility. The Yoga block puts me in a support-type position with a relatively stable surface, and the outside edge of the block provides some stability. I use my Yoga block with either the padded end towards me or the non-padded end towards the wall.  To see the difference, you have to see it from the bottom and the top, from a safe distance. So, I just like using the block as an extra support for myself to develop better balance.

Yoga Mala

A mala is a collection of beads. One hundred eight beads to be precise. These rosaries are believed to harness spiritual healing, increasing immunity, energy, and stamina, as a mala bead jewelry is worn throughout yoga or meditation practice. A mala is considered holy and is worn when a practitioner does not practice normally, or has health issues that the practitioner is unable to help or ease. You can find mala beads at most yoga studios and on Etsy. A great source is JapaMalaBeads.com. They have over 100 different types of malas! Though these meditation beads are simple to put together, the meticulous craftsmanship adds beauty to the beads.

Bands & Belts

You will also need your own yoga belt, strap or bands. Most yoga straps come in different lengths and thicknesses so you can find something to suit your needs. Amazon carries a lot of different kind of bands. Look for a strap that is well made, durable and won’t fall off your hips. Be sure to always tie your yoga straps while you’re in class. This will ensure that you can return your current strap to the store so that you can get a new one that fits your yoga practice.

Healing Stones

Both yoga and healing crystals have the power to bring inner peace. In yoga, mindfulness, transformation, growth, and awareness happen once the mind, body, and spirit connect through breath and movement. Crystals add the same means, solely the mind, body, and spirit connect through energetic vibration.

Yoga Bracelets

You can keep your Mala Necklace safe at home and take a matching Mala bracelet to your yoga class. This bracelet will be a beautiful reminder of your intention, and you will enjoy the healing benefits at the same time. Breathing and counting mala beads is good for concentration. Therefore the bracelet acts as an asset that aids in achieving this. Similarly, as helping to align your chakras.

Yoga Clothes

Yoga pants and tank tops are great options as they’ll improve your balance and give ease when you change postures. Cotton or lycra material clothes will give you comfort during yoga practice. Like any other clothing, there are some disadvantages to yoga pants as well. Pants can be uncomfortable for some people who tend to sweat a lot. Some yogis prefer to wear leggings as they are far more comfortable for some people. Cotton or lycra pants have the benefit of keeping you dry and warmth in addition to the benefit of being practical.

Water Bottle

A bottle could be a must when you are doing yoga to keep you hydrated. You may sweat a lot throughout a yoga session, therefore it’s perpetually better to have a bottle of water by your side to rehydrate your cells regularly.
