Coffee is, without a doubt, a hot beverage enjoyed by billions of people around the world. It’s one of those drinks that almost everyone has sampled in their lifetime! Coffee, as you know, comes in a range of flavors and tastes.
Life would be pretty boring if we all drank the same type of coffee all the time! That’s why coffee producers create a range of different blends. Despite that fact, some flavors are yet to be discovered.
Have you created an exciting new coffee flavor? Perhaps you wish to launch a range of coffee under your brand? Today you are in luck because I’ll give you a brief run-through of how to start a coffee roaster business! Here is what you need to know:
Branding
The first thing you need to do is come up with an exciting new brand name and logo for your business. One of the problems with the coffee industry is that it’s not that creative. In fact, the only creativity you’ll see is from the way a barista makes your cappuccino!
If you’re useless at branding design concepts, hire a marketing expert to work with you.
Lease some factory space
You will need somewhere to process coffee beans and create those breathtaking flavors! It makes sense to lease premises rather than buy it for cost reasons.
There are plenty of suitable factories available to lease, so it’s just a matter of finding the best one.
Buy some coffee roasting equipment
Next, you’ll need to get the machines needed to create those rich blends you so want to sell! It’s worth doing some research online before you buy. That way, you can be sure you’ll end up with the right tools for the job.
For example, with some machines, you should get a tubular drag conveyor. They make the process so much quicker!
Source some coffee beans
You can’t make coffee without coffee beans! I recommend opting for Fairtrade suppliers. Not only is it ethical, but it’s also a good marketing point to use when you start selling your coffee.
It’s almost always a good idea to go and visit coffee producers in person. If you head out to Costa Rica or Colombia, you could always have a vacation at the same time!
You should ensure the producers selling the coffee beans have a quality control process. After all; the last thing you want to do is end up with coffee beans that are substandard or harmful. Be sure to get written and photographic proof as evidence.
Hire the right people
Those coffee roaster machines won’t work themselves! You need to hire the right people for the job. It makes sense to look for people with suitable industry experience. Otherwise, you’ll need to provide training for new starters.
Start selling!
Now that your production system is ready to start, it’s time to market your new coffee brand. Consider sending samples to influential people like supermarket and chain cafe owners. That way, you’ll be able to sell large volumes of your product.
