4 Strategies if Finding Traditional Employment Seems Impossible

Graduating from college is a very momentous occasion for all people. In many situations, those that finish their degree will join the workforce thereafter with many finding traditional 9-5 jobs. However, the job market has continued to become more competitive and has made it harder to for some to find traditional work. If finding traditional employment seems impossible to you, here are four strategies that you should consider.

Freelance

One strategy that you could consider if finding a traditional employment option seems difficult is to go into freelancing. Freelance professionals can perform an extremely wide range of tasks, which can range from driving for a ride sharing service, writing content, renting out a room in your home, providing computer programming and web design services, or performing a wide variety of odd tasks. While you could eventually market yourself to complete these tasks, there are a wide range of forums and platforms that you could use today that can help you to find clients, build your reputation, and earn an income that you can live on.

Become an Entrepreneur

Another strategy that you could follow if you do not think getting a traditional full-time job is an option is to become an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur is an individual that starts and runs his or her own business. While many people go into the field of owning their own business because it is their dream and they do not want to work for anyone else, a very high percentage also end up starting their own business because they either lost a job or could not find a full-time job to begin with. In fact, 80.3% of all entrepreneurs have stated that not being able to find a full-time job was one of the most significant reasons why they ended up going out on their own and starting their own business.

Flip Houses

The third strategy that you could consider if finding traditional employment seems impossible is to go into the field of flipping houses. Those that have an eye for real estate, can accurately project budgets, and are handy could do very well by buying houses, fixing them up, and selling them for a profit. While flipping houses can be a great way to earn an income, it can be a very challenging industry as well. Because of this many novice house flippers would benefit greatly by taking educational classes, like those from Rules of Renovation on Medium.com. Such classes will provide you with a lot of insight into flipping homes, including how to choose a property, how to build a budget, and how to find capital needed to execute the business plan.

Go Back to School

If you are not able to find a full-time job that you enjoy, or feel that you are too underpaid, another option would be to go back to school and obtain a higher level of education. Those that have a professional degree or other form of higher education generally have a lower level of unemployment and higher salaries. Some options would include going to get your MBA, going to law school, or getting a masters degree in either your current field or a new field that you are interested in. If you choose to follow this route, it is very important that you carefully consider all of the costs of attending including tuition, student loan interest, and lost wages by not working.

Ever after you have started to follow one of the aforementioned strategies, it is important that you continue to reconsider and reevaluate all of your options. As your career and life evolve, different opportunities will be presented to you. It is important that continue to look out for these opportunities and be willing to make further professional changes if it would benefit your life and career.
