Things You’ll Need

You will require the following things for your pedicure at home:

  • A tub of hot water
  • Nail polish remover, nail clipper, nail filer
  • Cuticle softener, cuticle pusher
  • Foot scrub
  • Foot cream
  • Pumice stone
  • A towel

Once you have gathered all of the above, you are ready to start.

Step 1.

If you have nail polish on, then you would need to remove that in the beginning. Put in a few drops of nail polish remover on a cotton ball and remove the nail polish from your nails. Wash your feet with water.

Step 2.

Now soak your feet in the tub of hot water for at least 45 minutes to get a lasting effect. In the water, you can add the following:

  • Bath salts, if you have any
  • Juice of one lemon
  • A few drops of foot wash. If you do not have a foot wash, you can always add some shampoo or body wash of your choice.
  • Essential oils, if you have any (lavender and Eucalyptus are the most widely used)

Once done, use a towel to dry your feet.

Step 3.

Now you would need to trim, shape and file the nails properly. Once you have done that, you would need to apply the cuticle softener and leave it on for about 5 minutes. If you do not have one, you can make it at home by heating olive oil in a double boiler and then adding coconut oil, glycerine and essential oil. That would also give you the best results. Now gently push the cuticle down with a good cuticle pusher.

Step 4.

Now is the time to scrub your feet free of the all the dead skin it has accumulated on the surface. Use the pumice stone to scrub the feet off any speck of dirt that it possesses. You can clean over your nails with the help of a brush and remember to carry out this step gently since there is a chance to hurt yourself.Clean under the nails too.

Step 5.

Apply a good dollop of foot scrub all over your feet in clockwise and anticlockwise motion to complete the exfoliation procedure. You buy one of these off the racks in a good beauty sore, or you can make your foot scrub at home. Wash it off after some time.

Step 6.

Now massage in the foot cream over your feet and let it rest for some time; 5 minutes will do the trick. If you do not have a foot cream, you can apply a heavy body cream in its place. Do not apply this cream on the nails.

Step 7.

Once you are done with the last step, you can apply your favourite coat of nail polish to finish off the whole process with.
