The living room is the centerpiece of every home, regardless of who lives in that living space, how big the living room is or anything else. It is the room where you spend most of your time at home and it is also the room where most people entertain guests, which is why you always need to make sure you have it just the way you like it. Color schemes are very important in interior decoration and here are some that will always work in a living room.

White, Orange and Blue

White, Orange and Blue

It is a well-known fact that orange and blue are complementary colors and that they work very well together. They are also a perfect combination for the living room because the blue has a calming effect and the orange is always playful and exciting. They truly offset one another perfectly. In a living room, these two colors work best when they are used for details while the color white rules the room. It is a truly timeless combination that always works.

Red, Green and Brown

When you just read these three colors in succession, it is possible that you will not find it a particularly appealing combination. This is because we need to add that these need to be earthy, natural tones of these three colors which will produce a very unique atmosphere, serene and traditional. This is also an exotic combination that will make everyone think of Northern Africa, Morocco for example. It is a brave combination but when done properly, it can be stunning.

Green, Cream and Black

This is a very traditional color scheme which will work best with more traditional design and furniture, but which can surprise even if your living room is more modern. It is important to point out that the green you are looking for is leafy, natural one and that the black is used only for contrasting details such as a pair of shelves or a coffee table.

Gray, Blue and White

This is another timeless combination which is almost foolproof. The warm, toned-down blue, the piercing gray and the snowy white will be the best shades for the combination, providing a modern but still very warm look that will be difficult to ignore. There are very few combinations that are this versatile and effective.

Indigo, White and Red

Most professional painting experts will tell you that you can never go wrong with the blue-white combination in the living room, but this color scheme comes with bit of a twist. First of all, the blue we have in mind is in fact indigo, very rich and dark shade of blue and we are also introducing a bit of red, more precisely rusty red. The rusty red is mostly for details in this combination.

Be Creative

These are just a few suggestions. There are plenty more color combinations that will work great in the living room. The important thing is to be creative and let your imagination run wild. You might come up with combinations that will be even better than the ones we mentioned.
