Mis webmail is a webmail client for Linux. It uses Mozilla Thunderbird as its backend and is designed with easy and fast to use interface in mind. The current stable version is the 3.0 release which was released on July 18, 2018
The main goal of Mis Webmail is to make email communication with your friends and family as easy and super fast as you would expect it from your smartphone. Mis Webmail supports multiple accounts, push notification sending, chat notifications, emoji embedding in emails, etc…
Mis Webmail is created for users who are interested in PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) and advanced security features. You can also use Mis Webmail as a regular webmail client with your favorite email provider if you don’t want to encrypt your e-mails.
Mis Webmail’s main features include:
Mis Webmail is currently written in Python 3 and runs on any platform that runs Python 3, MySQL, or PostgreSQL with Apache2 web server. It supports both TSL 1.0 and TSL 1.3 standards when handling emails and their attachments – Mis Webmail does not need to use SMIME libraries like OpenSSL because it uses its own IO layers for file input/output.
Mis Webmail is available as a Xubuntu Ubuntu PPA and the installation procedure differs depending on your Linux distribution.
Mis Webmail is also available in Windows Store. Currently, it supports only Google Gmail, but support for Microsoft Exchange and other web-based email providers will be added soon.
To ensure the security of Mis Webmail users, all communication between Mis Webmail’s modules happens over an encrypted TLS channel (a combination of AES (128 bits) and SHA-2 (256 bits)). All user information is stored using AES-256 in secure storage which is encrypted with a key that has at least 256 bits in length.
Mis Webmail is free software and part of the Mozilla Public License 2.0 which means that you can use it for free. It also means that if you find a security issue in Mis Webmail, you can report it to Mis Project instead of reporting it directly to Mozilla as that’s the only official way of reporting bugs for Mozilla products.
