3 Skincare Items to Always Have in Your Bag

To protect your skin easily, carrying great products is the easiest choice. If you’re going to enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace with a friend, you want to know that your sunscreen is at hand, not in the cupboard at home. Invest in small containers of excellent product and carry it with you so you’re always ready.

Facial Cleansing Cloths

If you wear base every day at the office, you know that your mask is picking up this product. It’s also rubbing it into your skin. Get a small pack of facial cleansing cloths to carry with you. At the end of your workday, remove the makeup that remains before heading home.
Your skin is under stress in many ways. Wearing a mask makes it a bit harder to stay hydrated. It also captures moisture close to your skin and maybe causing breakouts. Finally, the material that the mask is composed of maybe causing irritation.
Preventing breakout is easier than covering them up. If you drive alone to work, leave your skin bare until just before you leave the house. Put on your mask before you get out of your car or hit the drive-thru. Before you head for home, remove your makeup in the car. Once home, try to go mask-free and let your skin breathe, clean, and uncovered. If you notice irritation, consider treating the mask ring from your nose to your chin with a serum rather than a moisturizer to let your skin heal.

Sunscreen

Invest in a sunscreen that is unscented, particularly for your face. If aging is a concern, look for a facial sunscreen that contains avobenzone. This chemical does more than protect the top layer of the dermis; it actually soaks in and absorbs UVA rays that cause wrinkles. If possible, find a sample of a sunscreen with this chemical as it can cause irritation.
Make sure and look for a sunscreen that includes titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. These chemicals effectively coat the skin and protect it from damaging rays. Additionally, these products are generally effective for those with sensitive skin.
Water-resistant sunscreen is a good investment; if you’re swimming or sweating a lot, you may need to reapply, but you can get better protection over the course of a day outside with a water-resistant product. Set the timer on your watch or phone to give you a heads-up when you need to reapply. Carefully review the label instructions to determine the best time to put on another coat.

Lip Balm

Just as the sun is hard on your skin in the summer, the drying winter air means that you need the best lip balm in your bag or backpack. If you like to add a bit of color with your protection, consider one of the many tinted lip balms on the market.
Lanolin is classed as an emollient. It goes on light and smooth. In addition to helping your lips resist drying out, it is easily absorbed by your skin to promote health and healing. When looking for a lanolin-based lip balm, carefully study the ingredients to make sure that the lanolin the supplier is using is medical grade. There are some that are allergic to lanolin products, but often that reaction is negated by the use of a pure product.
Petroleum products are classed as occlusive. They seal your lips from dehydration but offer no healing properties and little absorption. While a petroleum-based lip coating can prevent chapped lips on a cold, dry day, they really don’t help you fight lines and wrinkles around your mouth. You may have to apply lanolin products more often, but they’re doing you much more good over the long-term.
Additionally, we all know that what goes on our lips can end up in our mouths. Unless you’re allergic, lanolin is digestible. Petroleum products don’t break down in the body. To make sure that a pure lanolin product will work for you, start with a simple lanolin lip balm that contains no fragrances or color. Test a small amount on the skin inside of your elbow. If, after an hour, you’ve had no reaction, try it on your lips.
Great skincare is mostly about protection. Cleanse your face gently. Shield it from the sun. Nourish it with pure products that will soak in and heal your cells and reduce the signs of premature aging.
