Make Your Front and Backyard Fun With These Ideas

Most people focus on their home’s interiors when thinking of family fun and entertaining others, but this is only 50 percent of the equation. You can exponentially improve your home with fun landscaping ideas.

Water

There are several ways you can seek relief from the warm weather and have fun, with water. Pools and jacuzzis are forever popular, but there is a recent trend in ground fountains. These make for popular tourist attractions in various cities, but a lot of people are putting them in their backyards for kids, animals and adults to play in. Many people install misters around their pergolas and gazebos, which serve as an excellent cooling system. You can also make streams along with a Japanese garden. Make a small pond with koi. Koi are exceptionally relaxing to watch, and it’s fun to feed them by hand.

Outdoor Rooms

Outdoor rooms are still a popular trend amongst many because it helps to extend the use of the home. Any room you have in the home, you could have outside. This includes outdoor showers. The most popular rooms to have outside are the kitchen and the living room because both reduce the amount of messiness and spills in the home. Cooking outside saves the home from getting hot. Outdoor entertaining allows for easy cleanup too.

Cool Features

Consider dressing up the exterior of your home when considering your landscaping. You can install awnings over your windows. This will help to keep your home naturally cooler. Place climbing vines around trellises or patio covering, which can help to provide extra shade. Egress window wells beautify your egress windows. They also make them easier to get out of in the event you have an emergency.

Serenity Shed

Create a place you can retreat to for relaxation or fun. You can make it off-limits to others if you wish. If you want to play music, watch TV, have a stocked fridge or otherwise need electricity, you could run an extension cord out to your shed or you could set up your shed with outlets. Decorate your shed according to your wants and needs. You may need a permit for your structure, along with blueprints.

Low Maintenance

Since you want to enjoy your landscaping with fun ideas, it would be well worth your time to reduce the amount of yard maintenance needed to ensure you have time to have fun. Instead of a standard lawn, think of getting either artificial grass, rocks, succulents or a variation of all three. You might not ever need to water your yard again as succulents don’t require a lot of water.

Sitting Area

Whether you are thinking to create an outdoor room, you should consider making a sitting area to have fun with family and friends or to have alone time. For a sitting area, you’ll want either a deck, cement or another hard surface for a fire pit, chairs and couches. Your sitting area can double as a place to dine or view movies if you set up an outdoor theater.

Privacy

Some homes are too close to each other, which means neighbors can often see into others’ backyards. You need areas of your yard that you can keep private whether this is around a pool or for lounging. To create privacy, think of different forms of vision obstructions, which can be made from virtually anything. You can make a wall from bricks or cinder blocks to block others’ view, create shade and to allow cool air to pass through. A tall tree can provide privacy, but you’ll need to trim the lower branches to create a canopy of sorts. Place a table, hammock or other items underneath the tree. This helps to create a shaded area as well.

There are never-ending ways to enjoy your back and front yard. You just need to consider the ways you want to have fun and incorporate those ideas in your back or front yard.
