Save The Day : How To Be Your Own Wedding Superhero!

Weddings are complex things, there is a lot of effort and organization that goes into each one, and they generally take some time to plan and execute. Unfortunately, that also means that there is a lot that can go wrong too. But what most folks don’t realize is that it is possible to sort out almost all of the issues if you try. Thus saving the day, and becoming your own wedding superhero. Read on to find out more.

You can’t get the venue that you had your heart set on

It’s not uncommon for the wedding to be something that has been thought and dreamed about for a very long time for they happen. In fact, many young girls often fantasize about what their dream wedding will be like. Unfortunately, as they grow up real life gets in the way, and it can become pretty obvious that the dreams they had in their head aren’t going to come to fruition.

In particular, this can happen with the choice of wedding venue. No matter how long you have had a certain location in your mind, if they aren’t free on the date that you hope to get married there is nothing that you can really do about it.

Of course, at first this can lead to terrible disappointment, but you can also see it as an opportunity to think outside of the box with your venue and explore other options. Perhaps you could find another picturesque spot in which to hold your reception? Or, if nothing sings to you, what about hiring a marquee or tent and setting up your own perfect location?

By doing this, you may even find that you have a lot more control over the types of features you can include. For instance, some wedding tent hire companies offer the option of selecting different styles of furniture, and extras like throws and fire pits for the evening to keep your guests warm.

You have cash flow problems

Another common issue when planning a wedding is that you can have a few cash flow problems. This can be anything from inconvenient, to disastrous depending on when the crisis occurs.

For instance, it may be that you just can’t buy the materials you need to send the invites out, so everything is put back a little. Or you could end up losing your venue, caterer, or florist because you just haven’t got the money right at that moment to secure them with a deposit.

However, it’s best not to panic as even cash flow crises can be resolved with a bit of clever thinking. For instance, you may consider applying to a company that provides installment loans. Which will give you quick access to the money that you need for your deposit and allow you to pay it off as soon as your cash flow crisis resolves.

Or, as many people do, you could turn to family for help in this situation. It is quite traditional for the parents of both the bride and groom to help out financially when they are getting married. You can even pay them back once you have the money if you aren’t comfortable accepting it as a gift.

Your bridesmaids are a pain

For the most part, the bride is generally the centre of attention on the day, and her wishes are the one that is most important to fulfill during the wedding planning. But unfortunately, not everyone gets this memo. That means others in the wedding party such as the mother of the bride, mother of the groom, and even the bridesmaids can be difficult.

It may be that they don’t agree with your dress selection, or that they refuse to help with the preparation when they are needed. It could even be that they are more concerned about being the centre of attention than the bride herself. But how do you deal with difficult people that are close to you and involved in the wedding without starting WW3?

Well, first of all, you can use the old trick of peer pressure. If you know that someone, in particular, is going to be a pain, it’s best to deal with them as a part of a group. The idea being that if the group are all agreeing with you, then they can’t really insist on their own opinion being the right one.

Another clever trick in dealing with difficult people when organizing a wedding is to assign them a specific role, such as organizing the cake or speeches, in which they have total control over. Then they feel included and in charge, but don’t have too much time or power, to take over the other things in the wedding that you want to be a certain way.

You decide you don’t like your dress

It is not uncommon for the bride to decide that the dress she has bought isn’t actually the dress that she wants to wear on the day. Unfortunately, the problem with that is that she has already put a lot of time and money into selection and ordering of said dress.

So, if you find yourself in this situation what can you do? Well first of all sleep on it, not the dress, the decision! The run up to getting married is so full of choices to be made, it’s pretty easy to become overwhelmed with all of the decisions. That is why it’s a good idea to give yourself a bit of a break and not force the issue.

Then, if you still find that you don’t feel your dress is right, you need to look at the time scale that you are working with. If it is only a short time before the wedding, you will be limited in the choice of dresses that are available to you in most bridal stores. This is because most wedding dresses have a 6-9 month lead time. Meaning you will only be able to buy something that is a sample off of the rack.

So, make an appointment with the store that you bought your dress from to discuss this with them, and they will be able to show you what they have on offer. They may also be able to buy the dress back from you. Then you can use the credit towards a new gown which stops you having to pay out for two dresses, which could really break your budget!

You can’t guarantee the weather

Depending on where you are having your wedding, something you might be concerned about is the weather. Everyone wants it to be sunny and bright on their day. As not only will be it easier for you and your guests to have a good time, but you will also get the best possible photos for your wedding album.

But what do you do if you are in a place where the weather is unpredictable? Well, the best thing is to have an easily executable plan B. So if you plan to have an outdoor service or reception, ensure that there is an indoor alternative that can be offered if the weather does change before or during the day.

Discuss the logistics of this with your venue before the day. As you will need to ensure that there is space for all of your guests to shelter from the bad weather. Even while the venue sets up the indoor location if the weather turns.
